There was a boring semi-technical reason why I didn't add these links on the profile pages, but if there's enough interest in it then it's totally doable!

We recently released a new version of the LibCrowds software. This version includes various new features, such as an image tagging system, improved forum integration with the main site and personalised lists of the available projects for each user.
For a more detailed summary of the changes see https://github.com/LibCrowds/libcrowds/releases/tag/v1.0.0
Hi @SharonE,
Yep, you're absolutely right. The reason for this is that we ran a new results analysis process over the weekend.
A brief summary of the analysis process:
A LibCrowds project is a series of similar tasks. For each transcription task, we're asking for three people to transcribe the same fragment of text. As the final transcription is submitted, the analysis process is triggered, the transcriptions are normalised and then compared to see if they match. If our normalised transcriptions match we mark the task as complete and store our final result. If they don't match we mark the task as requiring another contribution and send it back into the task queue. Once we receive an additional contribution the above process is triggered again.
This process has been running on all of our live tasks for a few weeks now but we needed to run it retrospectively on the projects that were completed before it was in place. This should be a one off thing.
Hopefully that makes some sense, I plan on writing up a bit more about this soon. In the meantime, any questions are welcome!
See this topic for further discussion about using IIIF manifests to share these tags.
Hi MarineLives
This sounds like an interesting project and I'll try to get back to this on Monday. There are probably a bunch of different issues wrapped up here that we could get into. For now, I hope you don't mind but I thought I would split this into a separate thread so that we can keep the other one a bit more focussed on interface design things rather than implementation.

One thing I really like about this idea is that we could generate a IIIF manifest for each tag. This will help us to provide a browsable album of images for each tag, but also means people could potentially embed those albums on their own websites, blogs etc.
And, for anyone who might be interested, here's the related GitHub issue.
The sign in process for the forum changed last week (see this topic) and we want to make sure that everyone is still able to gain access.
If you have any problems with signing into the forum please send us an email at digitalresearch@bl.uk.
Four new date transcription projects just added, more on the way!
I wondered if that was the case
We'll get some new ones up soon!
You also just inspired the addition of a new Ideas tag - thought it would be nice to start tracking these suggestions in the forum.
I like this idea!
We could say that whenever a new project (set of tasks) gets published a notification gets sent out to all subscribed users (it should probably be an opt-in thing). We have actually have a mechanism for this kind of thing largely in place, which shouldn't be too hard to expand on.
I've added a GitHub issue to track the development work and I'll update this thread when we implement it.
Thanks

Note that I found 8 email addresses that don't match LibCrowds accounts. This means that there are a few people that only signed up for the forum, or signed up using a different email address than they did for the main application.
If you're one of these people, what will probably happen here is that when you next sign in to the main application you will have a new forum account automatically created for you, using the email address linked to your main account. If you want to then merge your accounts just get in touch, letting me know which email address you want to keep and which to discard.

Over the past few days we've been working on implementing a single sign-on process between this forum and our main application and I'm pleased to say that we're ready to switch it on
This means that you will no longer need to create a separate account for the LibCrowds forum, everything will be handled via your main LibCrowds account. When a user signs in from any LibCrowds webpage they will automatically be signed in to the forum, with a new account created first, if necessary.
Hopefully, removing this additional barrier to entry will encourage more people to come and participate. It also just provides a far smoother experience!
For those of you that had already created a separate forum account, your email addresses will be matched against your main LibCrowds account. It is that main account that you can use to sign on. As before, just click the Sign In button that appears on this page.
If you notice any issues at all please respond here, or email digitalresearch@bl.uk
Thanks!

Another quick note that Facebook logins should now be fixed!

I couldn't see any contributions linked to you old account, which makes sense as you couldn't see the images! I could just delete the old one but there is probably no need. Hopefully we can get the Facebook login working again soon.

That's really helpful, thanks. So it looks like there still might be some issue with Safari that we need to have a look at. It's difficult to keep up with all of the different browser quirks sometimes! Glad you can contribute via Firefox for now anyway.
Also, if you want me to merge your old account into your new one just send me the two usernames (and specify which is which). We could then link any contributions you made with your old account to your new one. Wouldn't want you to feel like you've lost any contribution points

Ok thanks, if you don't remember installing anything like that then it's probably not the cause.
We did get a report of this happening on Safari when we first launched but we've pushed out a lot of updates since then and had no similar reports since (until now)! To see if it is indeed browser related, do you have another browser that you can try it on for now (e.g. Chrome or Firefox)?

Thanks for pointing this out - do you happen to have any privacy browser extensions running (e.g. https://www.eff.org/privacybadger)? We've noticed before that things like this can block the requests between the LibCrowds site and the British Library servers that we're pulling our images from.
It's possible that an error is being thrown while the task is loaded, before the text gets fed into the help modal, we'll figure it out!
Yep some kind of tagging system would probably be the easiest way to implement this. I've added it to our features backlog and we can review soon!
